Digital Transformation for
Banking & Equipment Finance
Modernized core systems and IT infrastructure at GE Capital during a period of intense regulatory change and operational restructuring — setting the foundation for scalable, secure digital finance.

While at GE Capital, I led mission-critical technology projects during a high-stakes transformation period.
From replatforming $1B+ credit decisioning systems to developing cloud migration and segmentation strategies, I helped modernize the digital backbone of GE’s equipment finance business.
This work directly supported GE Capital’s strategic realignment, cloud-readiness, and eventual divestitures.
The Challenge
In the wake of the financial crisis and evolving global regulations, GE Capital was under pressure to modernize legacy systems, reduce operational risk, and prepare for structural divestitures. IT environments were aging, fragmented, and not cloud-ready — posing security, performance, and agility concerns for a business managing billions in equipment finance, leasing, and credit operations.
My Role
Credit Engine Replatforming
Led the end-to-end modernization of GE Capital EMEA’s Credit Decisioning Engine, which handled over $1B in daily credit approvals. The project delivered 0% unplanned downtime while migrating to a modern architecture — a critical requirement given the platform’s role in transaction approval and risk control.Cloud Transformation Readiness
Developed network segmentation and data center migration strategies to prepare GE Capital for hybrid cloud operations. This included designing secure zones for regulated workloads and defining access controls aligned with compliance obligations.Application Rationalization
Assessed over 800 internal apps using Gartner’s PACE Layer Model to streamline the IT portfolio and prioritize cloud migration or decommissioning. This effort helped reduce complexity and technical debt across the global infrastructure stack.Security & Compliance
Supported application security modernization efforts, introducing secure SDLC practices and integrating vulnerability management into standard delivery workflows — improving SDLC control coverage by over 30%.
Outcome
These foundational efforts helped GE Capital reduce IT risk, increase cloud readiness, and streamline operations ahead of its strategic divestitures. They also directly supported a shift from legacy banking systems to scalable, productized infrastructure — ultimately helping reposition GE’s finance arm for future fintech innovation and asset-light growth strategies.
